Listen respects your privacy. Here is exactly what happens with your data.
Listen collects the following data:
Your audio files are recorded locally on your iPhone or Apple Watch. To transcribe them, the audio recording and its transcription are sent from your device, through our server (listen.herard.com), to a third-party AI transcription service — OpenAI (Whisper) or Gladia. This data is transmitted for transcription only, processed in transit, and deleted immediately afterwards. It is never stored on our server, nor by the AI service.
Your explicit consent is required before any audio is sent to a third-party AI service. The app displays a consent screen — stating what is sent, to whom, and that it is deleted immediately — and asks for your agreement before the first transmission. If you decline, the app uses only the on-device iPhone engine, which transcribes your audio locally with no external transmission.
Your recordings and transcriptions are stored in your personal iCloud Drive (iCloud.com.herard.listen), encrypted by Apple. We have no access to this data.
The third-party AI services we use to transcribe audio (OpenAI and Gladia) provide a level of data protection equivalent to our own: data is processed solely to perform the transcription and is not retained or used to train models without consent. We encourage you to review their privacy policies:
You can delete all your data at any time by deleting your Listen folder from iCloud Drive. For usage data deletion, contact us at: jerome@herard.com
