Three engines: iPhone native (free, offline, unlimited with the subscription), Whisper (OpenAI, high quality) and Gladia (best multilingual accuracy). Whisper and Gladia use your time packs, or your own API keys if you entered them.
In Settings → AI Features, choose "My API keys" and enter your OpenAI and/or Gladia key. They are stored only on your iPhone and never deduct any Listen quota. This is the most cost-effective option for heavy use.
If you don't have your own API keys, packs (1h, 3h, 6h, 10h) give you Whisper or Gladia transcription time. Time is cumulative and never expires. Purchased in-app via the App Store.
If you denied permission on first launch, go to iOS Settings → Listen → Microphone and enable access, then restart the app.
During a recording, a Live Activity shows the timer and controls on the lock screen. Make sure Live Activities are enabled in iOS Settings → Listen, and in Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Live Activities.
Check that you set a recipient in Settings → Email recipient. The email contains the summary, decisions, tasks and full transcription, in the app's language.
Each recording generates a transcription, a summary, the list of decisions made, and to-do tasks (checkable in the app). You can re-run the analysis or re-transcribe anytime from the detail view.
In the Library, swipe the recording to the left and tap Delete. Audio, transcription and summary are removed from your iCloud.
Yes, the Apple Watch is optional. All main features are available from the iPhone. On the Watch, a complication lets you start a recording from the watch face.
No. No conversation is stored with us. Your recordings stay in your personal iCloud Drive (Apple encrypted). Transcription passes through the AI API and is then immediately deleted.
Watch recordings are transferred to the iPhone via WatchConnectivity. If the iPhone app was force-quit, the transfer waits until it reopens. Open the Listen app on iPhone to speed up syncing.
